Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band's Tour of Korea
July 21st, 2015
My first overseas tour with the LT Dan Band was in February of 2004 to the Asia Pacific region. Two shows in Diego Garcia, an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, a show in Singapore for our Navy there, and Korea for three shows. Kunsan Air Force Base, Camp Humphries and Camp Casey. We went back to Korea again in 2009. Both those trips were with the USO.
We visited Korea again just this past May as a Gary Sinise Foundation/LT Dan Band tour to play for our troops at both Camp Casey and Camp Humphries. As we had on the previous trips, we also visited the Demilitarized Zone between North and South. It is a most interesting and strange place.
For this last trip, I invited filmmakers to document the tour. As you will see, we were very close to North Korean guards stationed at the border. A very odd feeling as we watched them take pictures of our group.
It was my honor to be able to spend time with our amazing soldiers and to give them some entertainment and a show of appreciation for all they do to protect and defend our freedom, and more specifically in this case, the freedom of the people of South Korea.
I hope you enjoy this short film on our latest trip overseas.
