Andi Mandell
Andrea (Andi) Mandell joined the Gary Sinise Foundation Board of Directors in August 2023 and is a tax partner of the law firm Schulte Roth & Zabel.
In 2012, one year after the Foundation’s inception, Andi began working as pro bono counsel with Gary and the members of his then-nascent organization. Over the years, Andi has had the privilege of being a part of the legal team, initially providing legal support for the R.I.S.E. Program and over time, expanding legal representation at Schulte to grow the position to a de facto outside General Counsel role advising the Foundation on most aspects of their operations.
She has over 30 years of experience providing skilled tax advice to the securitization industry and focuses her practice on the tax aspects relating to structured finance, securitization and fund formation. Andi works with other industry leaders shaping the securitization industry as a member of the Board of Directors of the Structured Finance Association (SFA), where she previously served four years as the Chair of the Tax Policy Committee.
A frequent writer and public speaker on tax-related regulatory developments affecting structured finance, Andi has been twice named by Crain’s New York Business as one of the “Notable Women in Law” and is ranked Band 1 in “Capital Markets: Securitization: Tax – USA – Nationwide” by Chambers USA.
In addition, Andi serves as a member of the Schulte's Pro Bono Committee where she provides tax advice to many of the firm's pro bono clients regarding issues ranging from 501(c)(3) formation and qualification to continued compliance.
She also serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of the Friends of Firefighters Foundation, a foundation that provides independent confidential and free mental health counseling and wellness services to active and retired FDNY firefighters and their family members.
Andi earned her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from Boston University School of Law. She received her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
Having been a part of the Gary Sinise Foundation for more than a decade, I have seen the Foundation’s essential work make a profound impact in the lives of so many of our military heroes, first responders and their families. With each passing year, our expanding outreach continues to support, strengthen and honor the nation’s defenders, veterans and first responders. As a civilian, I am deeply honored and humbled to be able to help give back in this way to the people who have so selflessly served our country.
