I am a retired Jr. High Math Teach. I live in Astoria but I taught in Flushing, Queens, NY. I had a 8:10 to 8:55 Math Class and my co worker had first period off. She came to my class crying saying a plane went into the Towers. I said I don't understand the plane missed the runway at LaGuardia. She said no, it was a terror attack on the towers. The parents were notified to pick their children as soon as possible. When the building was completely empty from the students, a few teachers went across the street from the school that was a restaurant and bar. We watched the attack on TV and stayed a very long time. One of the teachers lived in Manhattan and the rest had cars to drive themselves home. I live in Astoria and the teacher who lived in Manhattan, I drove her to the 59th Street Bridge. It was late I would it was sometime after 7 or 8. I called my two adult children to make sure they were okay and I was okay. My son was working, I don't remember where. He did renovations on home/apartments. He met me at home to make sure I was safe. My daughter who still lives in Seaford Long Island was bringing my younger grandson to his first day at pre school.

She brought parents of the pre schoolers to meet in her house. The oldest grandson was brought home with the school. bus. Every one of my family was safe and I was crying for the loss of all those people. Since then I am a supporter of your foundation, t2t, wounded warriors. I was honored to attend 2t2 memorial on September 1 at West Point, Steel Across America. A former student of mine lost her mother in that attack. To this day I keep in touch with her. She lives in Astoria and she is married with two grown children.
