On the morning of September 11, 2001, I was working as an instructional assistant in our local high school. Our students began their state standardized testing on this morning. My students were testing so I walked up to the library to check out some resources. A tv was on in the room. That wasn’t normal. In less than a minute the first tower fell. We were unaware of anything. My coworker’s husband was in the Pentagon that morning. Not his usual workplace. My husband was working out of town in a large power plant. We spent the day trying to speak to loved ones and gather information. As soon as school was over we immediately went to fill our vehicles with gas. Fear was running pretty high in our small town. I spent the next few days in front of the tv. Trying to make sense of it all. I remember not seeing any planes in the sky for a week. That wasn’t normal, a very strange sight. Our lives have been forever changed by the actions of that bright morning. It turned the day in to night. But I will always remember the way our country pulled together. Flying our United State Flags everywhere!
