Retired U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Doc Jacobs Home Dedication
In August 2021, retired U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class and Bronze Star with Valor and Purple Heart recipient, Doc Jacobs was officially welcomed to his R.I.S.E. specially adapted smart home in California.
Thanks to the customizations made and with the help of smart home technology, Doc is once again able to perform some of the simple tasks of everyday life that most of us take for granted. Doc lost his left leg below the knee, three toes, three partial fingers and continues to face surgeries due to an IED explosion in Iraq. This home will not only help Doc regain the independence and mobility that was lost as a result of his injuries but will also ease his reliance on his family.
Watch our Founder Gary Sinise and the Gary Sinise Foundation team share a story of service and sacrifice featuring retired U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Doc Jacobs. The Gary Sinise Foundation was proud to provide Doc and his family with a specially adapted smart home through our R.I.S.E. program.
