A Week of Hope and Healing: Bringing Families of Fallen Military Heroes Together for the Holidays

This year, the Gary Sinise Foundation was honored to welcome more than 1,600 children and surviving spouses/guardians of fallen military heroes to Orlando, Florida and Walt Disney World Resort, for our Snowball Express annual event. Over five meaningful days, families found room to breathe, reflect, laugh, and reconnect, all while honoring the legacies of the loved ones they carry with them every day.

A Holiday Homecoming, Powered by American Airlines
The journey began long before families touched down in Florida. At airports across the country, American Airlines and its extraordinary volunteers transformed terminals into festive gateways filled with music, decorations, and warm welcomes. Flight crews, staff, and even beloved characters helped ensure every family felt embraced from the moment they arrived.

Evenings of Adventure & Connection
Families came together for a thrilling night at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where exploring the park by twilight created unforgettable shared moments. Laughter, new friendships, and the joy of discovery filled the air - a reminder that even during difficult seasons, community remains a source of strength.

Honoring Heroes Together
At Magic Kingdom, families took part in the Walk of Gratitude, moving down Main Street, U.S.A. as Disney cast members lined the way with heartfelt applause and support. The walk concluded at Cinderella’s Castle, where families shared messages of remembrance - a powerful moment of unity honoring the heroes who shaped their lives and sacrificed for our freedom.

A Night With the Lt. Dan Band
EPCOT became the center of celebration as Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band lit up the night with a concert dedicated to the families. Welcomed by the Patriot Guard Riders and a red-carpet entrance, families enjoyed an evening of music, dancing, fireworks, and pure joy. This highlight of Snowball Express continues to uplift year after year.
